..Road Trip..

Did we really just make that awfully long trip again?
Yes.. we did. I truly hope that we never have to do it again! However, staying
the night in Lincoln, NE, and Nashville, TN made it much more bearable.

Driving time was a total of 29 hours. I learned just enough about how
to drive manual for the trip. Charlie would pull off to a rest stop and then
I would jump in and get right on the interstate while crossing
my fingers that there would be no traffic.
(I am not confident in down shifting quite yet, so my heart was constantly racing)
In the end we were able to make it just fine with our car
driving schedule. Luckily, he was able to drive the majority of the time for me.

We also were able to stop at Liberty Jail in Missouri. It was a ton of fun
and we actually learned some new things as well.
Joseph Smith is truly a great man. We even read the verses from the Book of Mormon
that talk about their stay in Liberty Jail before we went which made us
realize even more. Liberty, Missouri is a pretty cool place. They honestly have all
of my favorite restaurants! I saw Chick-Fil-A, Five Guys, Schlotzkeys(where I ate the pizza above),
Olive Garden, Ruby Tuesdays, and much much more!

Things we learned at Liberty Jail
  1. They used a rope(no stairs) to get in and out of their "jail cell"(it was merely the basement of the prison)
  2. There were 2 tiny windows that they could see out of
  3. They attempted to break out but when they dug their way out of the bottom wood wall, stones that were used as a "alarm system" came crashing down and alarmed the guards. (see picture above of the 3 layered wall)
  4. The inside of the prisons door had no handle. Guards were literally locked in too.
  5. They were allowed visitors until they tried to break out. A visitor accounted that the prison felt more like the temple then a prison. The spirit was strong there with them.
  6. A missionary serving in Missouri saw the jail and felt inspired to take down every single measurement of Liberty Jail. Later the Jail was torn down and the church was able to rebuild it exactly due to the preciseness of the missionaries measurements.

It was a cool experience, and we are glad we are back in the good ole state of GEORGIA:)
